SEC is a non-profit social organisation certified by the national Association of Thailand Expats Clubs

What are we about?

Founded in June of 2005, the Samui Expats Club hosts a monthly ‘Expats Party'. The party includes Thais and Expats and all nationalities are welcome to attend! Singles – couples – groups, members and non-members, visitors and guests all join in the festive evening. The other focus of the Samui Expats Club is the charitable 'Samui Children's Fund' powered by contributions and a portion of fees.

The Samui Expats Club is a non-profit, social organisation with no government affiliation and is managed by volunteers. SEC started with island expats wanting to get together occasionally and share information and resources – while enjoying a fun evening with good ambience. As the club grew the Samui Expats Club started the 'Samui Children’s Fund’. The first Club donation of 20,000 Baht was awarded at the Nov. 3, 2006 Expats Party to the Koh Samui Secondary School for the new 'Student Library'. This was followed by a second 20,000 Baht donation from a partnering of the Club and Zico’s Brazilian Restaurant. A third funding is planned during the summer months from ‘Raffle’ and Club proceeds.

Monthly ‘Expats Party’ - 'Hosted Wine Reception' and Dinner

SEC arranges for a monthly 'Expat Party', held the first Friday of the month at a central location with high quality food & service and a comfortable and festive ambience. The evening starts with a 'Wine Reception' followed by announcements and a delicious seated dinner. At times interesting speakers or entertainers are invited to present at the party. Dress is island-casual and you need not be a member to attend.

The monthly 'Expats Party' event admission is modest (slightly more for guests then members) and includes a 'Hosted Wine Reception, announcements, a speaker on occasion and a sumptuous dinner in a convivial relaxed atmosphere. The latter part of 2006 reflected an increase in attendance with 60 attendees in Oct. and 70 attendees in Nov. In March & April of 2007 attendance grew to over 80 members & non-members in attendance.

There’s lots of ‘mixing and mingling’. People make new friends, meet up with old ones, and gather seats at various sized dining tables. Those attending have found that whatever the question or problem, they can be sure there is another expat or Thai in attendance – with some answers and willing to share information and expertise. New friendships are kindled and old ones renewed (and even a few romances!).

At the monthly ‘Expat Party’ you will find knowledgeable residents that are ready to share their experience and expertise on anything and everything to make your island life more enjoyable and stress free. You can find answers on your needs BEFORE you make an expensive mistake. This is a great group and a wonderful occasion to meet up with other Expats and Thais interested in meeting other like-minded people. Questions?
